It's been a bit of a long week (bonkers, nutty, batty) but the moments of sunshine shining through the trees brought great energy and balanced out the rough edges. All 3 girls were happy go lucky last week with Tonka respectfully assessing each one as the days ticked past. Days from last week turned into moments this week with full fiery and raging hormones. Having 3 girls in heat all at the same time AND your stud dog on site is no joke! Don't let the photos fool ya, all this is nothing but crazy flirty play.
Everyone is 'riding' everyone with a mix of edginess and annoyance from all. Everyone insists they have rights to whomever whenever and then they wonder why they get singled out and secluded in another pen. All 3 fenced off areas have been fully utilized this week. Fences have been tested and locks are clipped.
Despite all the precautions taken, unfortunately Tonka still managed to injure himself mid week. In between one breeding and the next he broke his toe nail in half right down to the quick causing enough pain to interrupt and stall his breeding focus. My mind spins instantly jumping way to far forward into plan B plan C and scrambling through all the 'what ifs' there possibly are. This definitely fell into the category of 'if everything goes (or doesn't go) exactly as planned' one step at a time. My long time vet has been exceptional with working with me and understanding the need for timing in what I do here. Within hours she was able to squeeze us in in-between visits, fix Tonka up, get antibiotics and pain meds on board and get him home in time for dinner and shortly after have him complete his breeding duties for the day. I exhaled took a new breath..yet another and relaxed just a touch. Putting my plan B and Plan C behind me.
Meiko has been not so subtle in her pouting in the secondary pen moping about the fact that some other girl is now getting focused on more than her. Meiko has had her time and yes has been fully 'serviced' successfully. Textbook as always. I rotate her out and let Tonka run wild with Isla for a bit. Again textbook. Rotate again. Too much info? Haha! Rest day Tonk.. calm. What's that?! Leia taunts him on the fence line.

The organized chaos around here this week is very real! Leia is shifting into her 'go' window here in the next day or 2 and Tonka is testing out the strength in his other toe nails in the fence he's behind. Poor Boy!
Leia celebrated her 3rd birthday this week and got spoiled all day. She definitely soaked it all in. My sweet darling upside down binkie girl.
The 'kids' Neema and Anya run like mad rolling and romping without any awareness of what's happening around them except fully playing off the energy in the air I'm sure but think it's just one grand party and an excuse to chase each other faster and longer.
I'm hopeful and have faith from here on out things will go as 'exactly as planned' and we'll once again have pups in every corner soon. The pup to finally make a dream come true, the pup to heal a broken heart, a pup to once again fill a home and a pup to warm feet once again.

What a beautiful time of year to bring a pup home. The flowers are blooming the grass is drying the rains are subsiding and the sunshine moments are increasing. Trails are drier, skies are clearer, days are warmer and nights more inviting. Potty training a touch easier, leash training a lot more inviting and days that you can romp and roll with your new pup increase.
I am blessed with this opportunity to get so many of you a new pup and new furry love into your home this summer. Now we wait.. we wait for a clear image over ultrasound 3-4 wks from now of new life. Crossing our fingers and toes that 'everything goes exactly as planned'
