Programs ebb and flow, wax and wane, create speed and soak up the cruise mode. Mother Nature throws in moments where you need to put your nose to the grind stone and dig your heels in deep. But then there are other moments where the sun shines, you hear the birds chirping for the first time wondering if they have been there all along or you just slowed down just enough to actually hear them. Days open up to outside opportunities that at times are next to impossible to accept. In the weeks and months that my program is just cruising along, pups are growing, mamas are enjoying down time and my pack is once again bonding tight, beautiful moments are created.
I have no big news to announce right now and so I, my dogs and my program are simply enjoying our 'down time' as much as you can have 'down time' that is while raising 6 dogs, 1 of which is 6 mth. old and the other, 3 mths.
It's been incredibly wet recently so we spent quite a bit of time inside the house with the 'kids' playing in the crates which they thought was a hoot. The moments that it wasn't pouring down cats and dogs were captured even though it may have been 10 o'clock at night. Games of who's going to win over the little fire hydrant went on for over a couple of mins. always a favorite around here! These are the moments that were beautifully created that bring light to my life and always a smile to my face.
Tonka takes full advantage of the time that I sit down in the yard and just 'be' with them. Once again crawling into my lap thinking he's a baby once again. Such a lover!
Neema and Anya continue to be playmates with Tonka being my quieter observer lately but Anya has taken up sitting with Tonka in the quieter moments. He lets her snuggle with him and intentionally scootches closer to her as she slumps over next to him.
The shift in relationships that happens over time always fascinates me. Buddies blossoming, friendships growing, pack dynamics changing, body language constantly moving and shifting, and new relationships being formed underneath and on the sides of others already in place. It all just is one big fuzzy furry dance that I love.
Little Anya is not so little anymore. Well over 20 lbs. now and just this week has gotten big enough to figure out how to get on top of the spools! Big kid stuff! She is growing thicker, wider, stockier, sweeter and lovelier by the day. She has an incredibly calm nature to her that I picked up on from very early on. She plays with the big dogs but also removes herself often to quietly observe everything around her with Tonka. She enjoys her playtime with the other dogs but also is incredibly eager to go off with me into the secondary pen to show off some of her moves that she picks up on ever so quick. Up (onto my bended knee), place, wait, release, back are only a few of the 'tricks' she is just running through almost automatically all on her own just to show me how good she is. What a doll she is in everyway shape and form. She's been the perfect addition to our pack here.
So even though big happenings or new puppies are not currently being created here right now, beautiful moments are very much so being created. Each one of them I am immensely grateful for and thoroughly enjoying.
We look ahead but make sure we live in every moment. Meiko is now on watch for her next shift in time to start the journey to bring us spring puppies. Hopefully in the next few weeks ahead this shift will take place for this chapter in time to begin for many eagerly awaiting families. Meiko sends her love and of course the rest of our pack here also send all their furry wet nose kisses your way!
